I'm writing today to post the sad news that the last living World War I Vet has passed away.
Frank Buckles was 110 years old when he passed away at his home in Charles Town, West Virginia.
He had been a strong advocate for a World War I Memorial to be created in D.C. There is currently a WWI Memorial in Kanasas City, but not in D.C.
President Obama, Sen. J. Rockefeller (W.Va.), Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), and Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito all expressed kind words about Frank Buckles.
Frank Buckles may lay in honor in the U.S. Capitol rotunda.
I suppose the next person would be the last living person of World War II. The baby boomer generation is here. There will be a growing demand for people working with the elderly.
