There was an interesting article
about an event that was organized to provide adaptive sport opportunities for
locals with various disabilities (that you can read at the link below).
I think this is a wonderful service
for the community!
I
did want to softly criticize one comment in the article that referred to people
as “disabled individuals.” There is a growing trend with people first language.
It would be more appropriate to say, “People with disabilities” opposed to
disabled individuals.
However, the company that provides the services, Strive shares their mission on their home page, which uses people-first language:
providing
recreational therapy for individuals with disabilities.
