CreativeChild.com has an article that argues parents should replace the time out chair with a calm down area.
As a child advocate, I agree with this.
I’d add that the calm down area should have sensory items to help the child to relax and self-soothe.

Sniffing rosemary - increase memory

Do you or any RTs you know provide aroma therapy?
There are a lot of mindfulness based trainings (DBT focused) that use aromas to help bring mindfulness.
There are also health benefits for some aromas.
I personally use lavender at night to help me relax.

Drinks that can help calm

Rec. Therapists might be interested in this list of drinks that claim to calm people.

I noticed that my favorite drink, coffee, was not on the list. (Laugh aloud). It has a lot caffeine. Over the years, my tolerance for caffeine has become high. In fact, I can drink a few cups and take a nap. That probably isn't a good thing.
