Check out the web-site for the World Confederation of Physical Therapists here in a second.
I find it amazing that they’ve gone worldwide.
I think we Recreational Therapists need to take a “Worldwide” approach. Of course, Recreational Therapists primarily work in North America (The United States and Canada).
I’ve heard of people majoring in Therapeutic Recreation in the U.S. so they can go back home (S. Korea, New Zealand, Japan) to start a program.
Is it time to expand?
Some people won’t like me for making this suggestion:
Should the American Therapeutic Recreation Association propose to change their name to the:
World Recreational Therapy Association (WRTA)?
I’m not sure if it would be financially in the best interest of ATRA to go worldwide at the time. We have a lot of work to do here in the United States, but it is a suggestion for the future.
Your friend,
Danny
