Licensure for RTs in New York State

Most Recreation Therapists (including myself) are board certified nationally, something you may not be aware of is that in New York State, Recreation Therapists are not yet licensed professionals. Doctors, nurses, teachers, hairdressers, and even tattoo artists are, but Recreation Therapists are not. As a professional committed to seeing growth and advancement in my career, it is important to me for licensure to pass in both the Senate and Assembly. Below is a link for a petition to get the licensure bill passed by our elected officials in Albany. Please join me in signing this.

This bill regarding licensure for Recreation Therapists in New York State reads: "Means a treatment service designed to restore, remediate, and rehabilitate a person's level of functioning and independence in life activities, to promote health and wellness as well as reduce or eliminate the activity limitations and restrictions to participate in life situations caused by an illness or disabling condition."

Will you sign this petition?
