FREE CEU Course: Cultivating Positive Discipline for Children

Sign up today for the Cultivating Positive Discipline for Children webinar with Jane Nelsen, author/co-author of bestselling Positive Discipline series and HeartMath Education Specialist Jeff Goelitz
Disciplining children has long been a primary concern of parents and teachers. Much has been written and said about what exactly constitutes "effective" discipline and how to achieve it. One of today’s leading and most respected voices on the subject is author, speaker, educator, psychologist and counselor Dr. Jane Nelsen. Nelsen’s Positive Discipline model, "designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities," has been successful in public, private and religious schools across the country.

Now Nelsen, one of the foremost authors on effective discipline of children, is teaming up with the Institute of HeartMath in February to present the Cultivating Positive Discipline webinar.

IHM Education Specialist and Program Developer Jeff Goelitz will host the event from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (PST) Saturday, Feb. 18. Join this special event as Nelsen discusses how discipline can be effective when it employs mutual respect, rather than punishment. The mother of seven coaches parents and teachers to be firm and kind, so children, from 3-year-olds to rebellious teenagers, "can learn creative cooperation and self-discipline with no loss of dignity." Parents, educators and mental health specialists among others who care for children will take away valuable tools, ideas and strategies from this hourlong webinar. After many years of work with children, parents and educators, Nelsen has developed invaluable insights on spoiled children, bullying, school violence, power struggles, lack of cooperation, backtalk and disrespect. The

Institute of HeartMath has been researching human emotions and behavior for more than two decades, including positive ways for changing undesirable behavior in children through adults.

The institute’s research has led to development of many tools and programs for children.

Goelitz has spent many years in the field of education and developing successful tools and strategies for improving children’s behavior and performance at home and school. Goelitz will compliment Nelsen’s presentation with a discussion of the HeartMath System of tools, techniques and programs.
