Hull House was founded over 120 years ago by America’s first female Nobel Prize Winner, Jane Addams. She was a tireless and fearless champion for the arts, social justice, immigrants, workers, public education, public health, good government and grass roots economic development. We can’t let one of the oldest social services organization in America simply go out of business. Chicago is sitting on about $1 billion in property taxes that are in its TIF funds. These funds are routinely being given to commercial projects that need no public money (like the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Grossinger’s Auto, and Sears - which is bleeding red ink). We bailed Wall Street out and got nothing back. We say “Save Hull House - Put People First!”
