Carmie Gallo had written an article titled “Steve Jobs and the 7 Rules of Success” for the Entrepreneur, which was featured online on Fri., Oct. 14th.
Gallo had studied Jobs’ life and she suggested 7 of his rules that we could all apply to our own lives.
I thought Recreational Therapists would love to know about these 7 tips.
You can read her full article at this link:

Here are my review of the 7 rule as they could apply to recreational therapists:
1. Do what you love: I imagine most recreational therapists have a lot of passion for what they do to help people.
2. Put a dent in the universe: Make an intention and take an active effort at changing the world, even if it is in your own small corner of the universe.
3. Make connections: I’d argue to make as many friends as possible. Rec. therapists could attend professional conferences. Learn about new cultures. Eat at an ethnic restaurant or attend a fair for a certain culture group. Be open to learning about people.
4. Say no to 1,000 things. The majority of people in the American society have one significant other. In fact, they’re saying no to 1,000s of others when they chose one person. Jobs had said no to projects at Apple.
5. Create insanely different experiences. I work at a hospital. They have this motto, “what if Disney” ran your hospital. How can you make the experience amazing for each client/ patient/ customer/ co-worker who walks in the door?
6. Master the message: Be a good communicator.
7. Sell dreams, not products. The big point is to help other people reach their hopes and dreams. I think we, recreational therapists do that every day.
