Excellent and compassionate patient care is the primary concern of West Hills Hospital. We provide a full range of behavioral health care services, including inpatient hospitalization, chemical detox and rehabilitation, and intensive outpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. West Hills Hospital services all Northern Nevada and Northern California communities.
West Hills Hospital treats and serves children, adolescents, and adults who are seeking treatment for behavioral health issues, including:
•Depression •Suicidal tendencies •Anxiety disorders •Schizophrenia •Bipolar disorders •Alcohol and drug dependency •Child and adolescent behavioral problems •Sexual, physical, and emotional abuse •Severe psychosocial and psychosomatic problems
The Recreation Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Manager in coordination with the hospital Director of Therapeutic Services.
Responsible for the development and implementation of activity services to increase social, cognitive, physical and creative aspects of the patient.
•Provide direction, education and in-service to other program personnel regarding therapeutic activities.
•Management of therapeutic space, supplies, and equipment including cleanliness, orderliness and safe conditions.
•Provide quality customer service when dealing with patients/families, other team members, physicians, co-workers, and other departments.
•Create a positive environment by managing unpredictable situations by problem solving.
•Utilize specialized training to design groups that meet individual needs from their treatment plans and integrating this with the larger community needs.
•Develops individualized, measurable treatment plan objectives based on information gathered in the A.T. assessment.
•Routinely updates and revises plan objectives per department protocol.
•Documentation addresses goals and the patient’s response to the intervention.
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
Experience: Related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Licensure: Must be eligible for CTRS and obtain certification within one year. Must maintain a valid Nevada driver's license.
Additional Requirements: CPR Certification. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
